About the Role
We are delighted to be working exclusively with our client - a global Asset Management Group who are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their Financial Operations team in Edinburgh. You will join a team of seven. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role covers a broad spectrum of responsibilities.
You will provide day-to-day support to the Finance team, helping to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations. You will further enhance the financial operations environment within the EMEA and US regions and be someone who is comfortable challenging the status quo, particularly relating to systems and processes, to identify efficiencies and create capacity.
This role is suited to someone highly numerate and analytical, who is detail-oriented and organised.
About You
Your Experience
- Previous experience in a finance, accounting, or administrative role is essential
- A basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Good understanding of Excel, the General Ledger and Journals
- Must be able to demonstrate continuing competence in accordance with the relevant Training & Competence regime
- Workday Financials experience preferable but not essential

- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with direct reports, colleagues across Finance, other business units and external parties

Your Day-to-Day
Financial Operations
- Accounts Payable processing, reviewing and actioning invoice workflow approval
- Shared mailbox administration
- Daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
- Cash management administration and monitoring cash flow
- Settlement run production of all payments, including Bacs, Wire, Sepa and ACH
- Intercompany movement and settlements
- Account certification and reconciling control accounts
- Company corporate card expenditure and administration
- Workday Financials activities in line with role assignment
- Collaboration with broader global Finance functions
- Continuous improvement of team productivity, enhancing Finance’s ability to meet business needs
- Contribution to EMEA, US and Group projects and activities
Change Management and Business Process Re‑engineering
- Support Workday through challenging and/or reengineering legacy processes and procedures, including developing new business processes that promote automation, maximise efficiencies and eliminate complexity end to end
- Foster and embed a continuous improvement culture across both EMEA and the global Finance team by challenging the status quo and identifying better working practices
- Reduce complexity and create capacity for value‑add activities
- Develop understanding of complex operational environments and processes
- Perform ad hoc duties as required
