About the Role

n² Group is seeking a Financial Controller who enjoys building strong, reliable finance functions and supporting the growth of a diverse group of businesses. In this role you’ll play a key part in shaping how our finance team works – ensuring clear, accurate reporting, well‑designed controls and efficient processes across our portfolio of operating companies. You’ll lead and develop a small finance team, working closely with colleagues across the Group to provide insight, guidance and confidence in our numbers.

You’ll play a central role in the Group’s core finance activities, including month‑end close, consolidations, statutory reporting, and the ongoing development of clear, consistent accounting frameworks. Working in partnership with senior leaders, operational finance teams, and external auditors, you’ll help ensure our financial information is accurate, insightful, and supports confident decision‑making as the Group continues to grow and integrate new businesses.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for an experienced accountant who enjoys developing people, strengthening processes, and bringing clarity and structure to a multi‑entity environment — while still staying close to the detail when needed.

Key Responsibilities Group Accounting and Financial Control
  • Own and manage all day‑to‑day accounting operations across the Group
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of all transactions in line with FRS 102 and local statutory requirements
  • Design, document and maintain robust group‑wide accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Strengthen the control environment across both newly acquired and existing businesses
  • Lead and develop a small finance team, including coaching, performance feedback and workload prioritisation
Group Reporting and Consolidation
  • Lead preparation of monthly group management accounts
  • Manage group consolidation, including multi‑entity structures, foreign currency translation, minority interests and equity‑accounted investments
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts for the Group and subsidiary entities
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditor
Budgeting, Forecasting and Performance
  • Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Produce variance analysis, trend commentary and performance insight
  • Support senior leadership with financial analysis and scenario‑based planning
Acquisitions and Integration
  • Support acquisition accounting, including purchase price allocation and goodwill
  • Lead finance integration for newly acquired businesses, ensuring alignment with group controls and reporting standards
Cash Flow and Risk
  • Oversee group cash flow forecasting and liquidity reporting
  • Manage working capital monitoring across the Group
  • Identify, escalate and help mitigate financial and operational risks
Systems and Process Improvement
  • Lead evolution of finance systems and reporting tools
  • Drive standardisation, automation, and efficiency improvements across processes
What We’re Looking For:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Strong post‑qualification experience in financial control, group accounting or senior reporting role
  • Experience managing and developing a small finance team
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge, including group consolidations under FRS 102
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, with the ability to understand key differences where required
  • Comfortable working in a multi‑entity environment with complexity and change
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong communicator able to engage with finance and non‑finance stakeholders
Nice to Have:
  • Experience in technology, professional services or project‑based businesses
