Symbiotic Talent is partnering with a high growth Fintech company in Edinburgh city centre for a 3-6 month (2 roles)
ON-SITE reconciliations specialists. The roles will be on FTC's basis.

About the Role

As a Reconciliation Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions across multiple payment schemes and products. You will be responsible for daily reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and supporting process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to new product initiatives, all while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory requirements.

What

You Will Do
  • Prepare and complete daily client money and bank reconciliations
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve non-reconciled items promptly, escalating issues as necessary and driving root cause analysis to prevent recurrence
  • Monitor real-time payment and transaction flows, highlighting trends or potential issues related to reconciliation
  • Support the timely and accurate processing of client money transactions, including Faster Payments, BACS, CHAPS, SEPA, Direct Debits, card transactions, and FX
  • Collaborate with internal teams (such as compliance, engineering, and product) to resolve complex reconciliation and payment issues
  • Work with banking, payment, and transaction providers to resolve reconciliation queries in line with regulatory and scheme requirements
  • Assist in the creation of internal and external reconciliation reports
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulations relating to Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs) and internal policies
  • Identify and elevate any internal or regulatory breaches related to reconciliation activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on reconciliation processes, providing guidance for new product initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
  • Support incident management and participate in on-call support for reconciliation and payment queries as required
What We’re Looking For
  • You must be able to move at pace, work as a team and have strong prioritization skills.
  • Previous experience in reconciliations, payments, or treasury within an operational team is ideal
  • Solid understanding of at least one UK or international payment scheme.
  • Committed to upholding the highest standards of accuracy and compliance as well as an awareness of financial regulations and experience in breach identification and reporting,
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and payment exceptions.
  • Proactive approach towards leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Awareness of Snowflake / SQL queries or similar
