Summary
This role is responsible for delivering the day‑to‑day activities of the Financial Operations team, ensuring high‑quality service, accuracy, and timely completion of tasks. Core responsibilities include reconciliations, financial analysis, banking activities, ledger reviews, and maintaining strong financial controls.
The role also supports team development through coaching, training, and sharing best practice. In addition, the postholder will work closely with key stakeholders to reduce financial risk, identify anomalies, investigate issues, and drive improvements across financial processes.

This role helps ensure that risks, errors, or control failures are spotted quickly so corrective action can be taken. Failure to do so could result in prolonged issues and significant financial loss to the organisation.
Planning & ReportingThe postholder is expected to manage and prioritise their own daily workload with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities- Excellent oral and written communication, which is clear and suited to audience
- Accuracy in performing tasks
- Demonstrates excellent time management skills, requires little supervision, well planned and organised. Easily adapts to changing priorities
- Ability to plan and work to tight deadlines without compromising accuracy
- Ability to Influence Customers in a Tactful Manner
- Able to articulate technical aspects of the accounting framework
- Excellent breadth & depth of knowledge of Life & Pensions accounting and Finance environment
- Good breadth & depth of knowledge of general ledger and technical accounting
- Knowledge of back-office business practices
- Good knowledge of Aegon products
- Knowledge of financial controls environment
- Experience of L&P industry
- Experience of working in back-office L&P environment
- Experience of bookkeeping and general ledger processes
- Proven experience in analytical thinking and problem solving
- Interaction with customer services to discuss issues and resolve
- Accounting qualification or working towards ACCA/CIMA
To be eligible for SC clearance, you must have lived and worked in the UK continuously for the past 5 years.
