Position: Economic Crime Business Analyst 6-month Secondment/FTC
Location: City of Edinburgh

Purpose of the Role

To support the Risk Function in delivering its objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities
  • Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
  • Management of the risk department, overseeing risk colleagues and their performance, implementing risk priorities and objectives, and overseeing department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relationship management of risk stakeholders, identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintaining the quality of external third‑party services.
  • Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

Economic Crime Business Analyst – 6‑month Secondment / Fixed‑Term Contract (Tesco Bank)

Responsible for managing a portfolio of customers requiring KYC reviews, ensuring all regulatory and compliance obligations are met while coordinating multiple related activities and work streams. The role involves providing project management support by tracking progress, following up with stakeholders, driving completion of key actions, and helping to maintain a robust control environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support change management.
  • Mitigate risks.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders to ensure the successful and timely delivery of KYC and remediation objectives.
Essential Skills / Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in project and/or programme management, including coordinating complex work streams and delivering against key milestones.
  • Proven experience contributing to remediation projects, preferably within KYC, AML, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), or regulatory compliance environments.
  • Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, engage and collaborate effectively across multiple business functions and seniority levels.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrable AML/KYC experience at an ownership or subject‑matter‑expert level, with a considerable understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Experience operating within a robust controls and governance framework, including risk management, oversight, documentation review and compliance monitoring.
  • Proven experience analysing and interpreting large and complex data sets to identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing data‑driven recommendations to support business decision‑making and continuous process improvement.
  • Proficiency in key critical skills relevant for success such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital technology and job‑specific technical skills.
Location

This role can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
