Job Description

Our purpose is to give everyone real confidence to put their money to work. With a heritage dating back more than 175 years, we have a long history of innovation in savings and investments, combining asset management and insurance expertise to offer a wide range of solutions. Our two distinct operating segments, Asset Management and Life, work together to provide access to balanced, long‑term investment and savings solutions.

Through telling it like it is, owning it now, and moving it forward together with care and integrity, we are creating an exceptional place to work for exceptional talent. We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer workplace accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role.

This role is responsible for end‑to‑end ownership of the methodology, application, governance, and external articulation of key Group performance metrics. Acting as the authoritative subject matter expert, the role holder ensures consistency, technical integrity, and transparency from planning through to market disclosures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as owner of methodology for key Group performance metrics used to manage the business, including adjusted operating profit, operating change in CSM, capital generation and Solvency II AUMA and flows.
  • Own quarterly Group results production across profit and AUMA metrics, including enhancement of end‑to‑end reporting processes, preparation of governance papers and securing required sign‑offs, and a clear explanation of results to senior stakeholders.
  • Apply and interpret methodology across all metrics for new products, changes in segments, and transactions, exercising judgement and resolving differing professional opinions.
  • Maintain end‑to‑end ownership of key Group metrics from plan and forecast inputs through to outturn and actuals, with a deep understanding of the impact on targets and remuneration outcomes.
  • Lead and develop a small specialist team, building deep technical capability, strong professional judgement, and effective collaboration.
  • Own production of external reporting content, including the semi‑annual Business and Financial Review and Q1 and Q3 trading updates, drafting narrative to explain performance to the market and verifying the accuracy and consistency of external disclosures.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Investor Relations, providing guidance and challenge over market messaging.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Deep technical understanding of Group performance metrics and their application.
  • Strong professional judgement in applying methodology to complex and novel situations.
  • Ability to explain complex financial outcomes clearly to senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience operating in a highly governed reporting environment with external scrutiny.
  • Proven ability to influence, challenge, and resolve differing viewpoints at senior levels.
Suggested Essential Skills
  • Strategic financial analysis and interpretation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for senior and external audiences.
  • Stakeholder management and influencing.
  • Team leadership and capability development.
  • Strong governance and quality focus.
