Summary of RoleSupport the delivery of client and matter onboarding, Anti Money Laundering (AML) checks, and risk assessments by conducting due diligence, analysing data, and assisting fee earners, while developing technical expertise in conflicts AML and compliance.
Support the execution of conflicts checks and analysis by identifying potential conflicts, gathering and recording information, querying fee earners where required, and escalating issues appropriately in line with firm policy.
Key Tasks- Collects and reviews CDD for new & existing clients, liaising internally with fee earners and externally with clients/others as appropriate. Conducts and interprets electronic verification checks, including adverse media, PEP and sanctions screening and reporting results.
- Conducts conflicts checks and analysis by running searches, identifying and assessing potential matches, and determining relevance. Liaises with fee earners to obtain additional information where required, applies defined criteria to discount false positives, accurately records findings, and escalates complex or high-risk conflicts to senior colleagues in a timely manner.
- Provides constructive support to fee earners in respect of AML, CDD, onboarding queries, and conflicts analysis, acting as a point of contact. Develops AML and onboarding expertise with support from senior colleagues.
- Conducts file reviews as part of a wider AML and compliance monitoring regimes, including assessment of CDD material and risk assessments, liaising with fee earners and matter partners to ensure compliance with AML PCPs.
- Completes workflow and matter management tasks, including closing/re-opening task flows and carrying out data analysis and rectification of client and party details.
- Supports wider risk team activities including audits, reporting, system changes, policy updates and team building. Assists senior colleagues in delivering induction and other training in conflicts and onboarding.
- Advanced Word / Excel skills
- Researching, investigating, analysing and reporting background
- An understanding of conflicts identification and analysis
- Basic knowledge of AML principles (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to analyse and understand complex client onboarding tools and systems
- Act as a subject matter expert on client/matter set up
- Great eye for detail and ability to explain data outputs
- Enhanced written and oral communication, with an ability to influence, support and guide people through complex processes
- Strong, logical prioritisation and organisational skills
- Strong client focus and ability to partner with internal and external groups
- Strong team-working approach to build a dynamic and efficient team including empathy, openness, transparency and an ability to constructively confront disagreement
- You have excellent communication skills, you are articulate, you communicate clearly, concisely and without any jargon.
