Interim Head of Finance

Interim Head of Finance, Edinburgh (Hybrid), 9‑12 months

Rutherford Cross is working with a Not‑for‑Profit organisation to recruit an Interim Head of Finance based in Edinburgh. You will lead the finance function, providing strategic financial leadership, driving continuous improvement and ensuring robust financial management.

• Leading and developing a high‑performing finance team, ensuring the delivery of an efficient and effective finance service
• Producing high‑quality management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Supporting and challenging budget holders and senior managers to drive informed decision‑making
• Managing the annual budgeting, forecasting, statutory accounts and audit processes
• Developing financial systems, controls, policies and procedures
• Delivering effective cashflow management, treasury management and financial planning
• Contributing to organisational strategy as a member of the senior leadership team

• Fully qualified accountant
• Experience leading finance teams
• Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning expertise
• Experience providing commercial and strategic financial advice to senior stakeholders
• Proven ability to improve financial systems, processes and reporting
• Strong working knowledge of accounting software and financial systems
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

This role would suit an experienced finance leader who combines strong technical capability with commercial awareness, strategic thinking and a genuine passion for making a positive impact.
