Financial Manager
FINANCE MANAGER, EDINBURGH (£50,000 - £55,000) – ON SITE
We are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-known Edinburgh based SME who are about to embark on a period of considerable growth that will see revenue double in the next couple of years. As a result of this, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager.
This is a newly created opening and will very much be a hands-on role where the successful candidate will play a key role in improving processes, strengthening controls and supporting business growth, with the opportunity to manage and develop a small Finance team. Offering a high level of autonomy, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to progress, take ownership and help shape a growing Finance function.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and Board reports with a focus on actual-to-budget and commentary on variances
- Maintain and enhance the month-end reporting workbook and supporting schedules
- Ensure robust balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls are in place
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end processes
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, models and longer-term financial projections, working closely with senior management and budget holders
- Support senior management in carrying out effective financial management by the provision of a pro-active and responsive Finance function
- Organise and prepare for annual audit, including preparation of draft accounts and leading the audit process
- Daily management of cashflow, cash posting and tracking
- Develop and implement operational financial procedures appropriate to the business
- Actively ensure best use of systems across the business
- Identify and implement process improvements to support scaling operations
- Submit quarterly VAT returns and other tax related work
- Manage payroll and pension administration
- Supervise and develop a team of 3
The ideal candidate for the role will be:
- Fully qualified, part- qualified or Qualified by Experience
- Previous experience working in a similar sized SME
- Previous experience operating at a similar / Finance Manager level
- Proven experience of month-end close, management accounts, analysis and commentary
- Able to interpret financial information, identify trends and provide clear analysis
- Previous experience supervising and developing a small Finance team
Due to specific requirements of the role and to support operational requests and queries that pop up, the role will require being on site. They have a great working environment, lovely offices inc. an on-site gym. On top of that, you’ll have a great team around you inc. a highly experienced Financial Controller and Finance Director and great people to learn from.
