Anderson Knight is recruiting for a part-qualified experienced Finance Manager to join a well-established business in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining hands-on financial management with team leadership and business partnering. Working closely with the Financial Controller, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the finance function operates efficiently, delivering accurate financial information while supporting and developing a Finance Assistant.
The RoleAs Finance Manager, you’ll take ownership of key accounting processes, ensuring financial information is accurate, compliant and delivered within agreed deadlines. Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing monthly management accounts, analysing financial performance and providing meaningful commentary on key movements and variances.
- Preparing and processing journals, including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
- Managing the company’s fixed asset register, including capital expenditure, disposals and depreciation.
- Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
- Supporting the year-end audit process by preparing schedules, assisting with statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors.
- Cashflow forecasting, highlighting any key changes within the process.
- Oversee, mentor and develop 3 transactional staff, ensuring you provide day to day support and training.
We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and confident leading a small finance team. You’ll ideally have:
- Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA status.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management position within a finance function.
- Strong experience preparing management accounts and overseeing month-end processes.
- Sound knowledge of accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and balance sheet controls.
- Experience preparing VAT returns and supporting external audits.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- A proactive approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
