Hays are delighted to be working in partnership with a respected hospice organisation to recruit a Part-Time Finance Assistant for an immediate temporary assignment through to Christmas based on the outskirts of Edinburgh city centre.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented finance professional looking for flexible, part-time hours within a rewarding environment where your contribution will support an organisation making a real difference in the local community.

Your new role

Supporting the finance team, you will be responsible for a range of financial administration and cash handling duties, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

  • Processing and reconciling cash receipts
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and spreadsheets
  • Posting financial transactions using Sage 200
  • Assisting with banking administration and related paperwork
  • Updating donor and Gift Aid information within internal systems
  • Responding to finance-related queries from colleagues across the organisation
  • Managing incoming and outgoing post
  • Administering petty cash processes and associated reconciliations
  • Providing general support to the finance function as required
What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience within a finance, accounts or administrative support position. You will be a confident communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to work accurately when dealing with financial information.

  • Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, helpful and professional approach
  • Experience using accounting software, ideally Sage 200, would be advantageous
