Due to ongoing growth, a leading third-party pensions administration firm is looking to appoint a Principal Pensions Administrator to join its established Pensions Administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pensions professional seeking a senior administration role that combines technical expertise, client delivery, mentoring responsibilities and operational leadership.

The role can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow with hybrid working and significant flexibility around working patterns and hours. This organisation is committed to creating an inclusive environment where employees can thrive both professionally and personally

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the efficient administration of a diverse portfolio of occupational pension schemes, ensuring high standards of service are consistently delivered to both clients and members. The role offers the chance to work within a collaborative environment where continuous improvement, flexibility and professional development are actively encouraged.

As a Principal Pensions Administrator, the successful individual will act as a senior member of the administration team, taking ownership of complex casework, supporting colleagues with technical queries and helping to ensure work is delivered accurately and efficiently. In addition to managing a portfolio of administration activities, the role will involve assisting with workflow coordination, maintaining service standards and supporting the development of less experienced team members.

This position is well suited to a pensions professional who enjoys balancing technical administration work with coaching, quality assurance and operational support responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a high-quality pensions administration service across a range of occupational pension schemes.
  • Act as a technical referral point for complex benefit and scheme-related queries.
  • Review and check pension calculations, member communications and administration work.
  • Monitor and prioritise workloads to support the achievement of service commitments and deadlines.
  • Support the training, mentoring and ongoing development of team members.
  • Assist with quality assurance activities and promote best practice across the team.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, trustees and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project work, process enhancements and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Help identify efficiencies and opportunities to improve service delivery through better processes and technology.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with legislative, regulatory and internal quality standards.
About You
  • Significant experience within UK occupational pensions administration.
  • Strong technical knowledge of pension scheme administration and legislation.
  • Experience handling complex pension calculations and member cases.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • A strong commitment to delivering exceptional client and member service.
  • The ability to coach, support and develop colleagues.
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence using pension administration systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional pensions qualifications, or progress towards obtaining them, would be advantageous but are not essential for candidates with strong industry experience.
What's on Offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Hybrid working with a blend of home and office working.
  • Highly flexible working arrangements to support individual lifestyles and commitments.
  • Strong commitment to professional development and career progression.
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Health, wellbeing and employee support initiatives.
  • Opportunity to join a growing, successful and highly respected pensions administration business.
