SummaryThis role provides essential support to DBT’s Estimates and cash management processes, ensuring the department meets parliamentary and HMT requirements accurately and on time. Working as part of the Estimates & Analysis Team, the postholder will help prepare the Main and Supplementary Estimates, support cash monitoring, and contribute to high‑quality in‑year financial reporting. The role involves gathering and validating financial data, coordinating inputs from across the department, and supporting clear, consistent financial products.
It offers an excellent opportunity to build experience in core government finance, develop strong analytical skills, and work closely with colleagues across the wider Strategic Finance function. The role suits someone with good attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and an interest in departmental budgets, parliamentary controls and central government processes.
- Support preparation of the Main and Supplementary Estimates, including coordinating departmental inputs and preparing working papers.
- Assist in monitoring the department’s cash position, including reconciliation of data, identifying issues, and escalating risks to managers.
- Validate financial information received from FBPs, finance operations and policy teams to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Support production of management and parliamentary reporting, contributing analysis and commentary where required.
- Maintain process documentation, templates and trackers for Estimates and cash processes.
- Provide administrative and analytical support at key points in the departmental financial cycle (e.g., month‑end, Estimates deadlines).
- Build effective working relationships across the finance community to improve data quality and strengthen budgetary control.
