Join our dedicated Pharmacy & Medicines team and play a key role in delivering high‑quality cancer care services within NHS Lothian. This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic pharmacy technicians to contribute to the delivery of innovative treatments, clinical trials, and service development in a dynamic healthcare setting.

About

The Role

The Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC) provides specialist cancer services for the Southeast of Scotland Cancer Network, treating oncology and haematology patients across day‑case, outpatient, and inpatient settings. As a specialist tertiary referral centre, ECC also supports a teenage and young adult unit and has a broad research portfolio, participating in a wide range of cancer clinical trials.

As part of our supportive pharmacy team, you will be involved in:

  • Delivering high‑quality pharmacy services to cancer patients
  • Rotations through dispensary, aseptic and patient‑facing roles, managing your own workload and the day‑to‑day workflow by delegating to the team
  • Contributing to service improvement projects and personal development initiatives.

Procedures for Aseptic Checking Technicians, PDA in Assessment and Supply of Individual Patient’s Medicines, PDA in Workplace Assessment Using Direct Methods.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
  • Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
  • HN Unit:
    Procedures for Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technicians or Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician Award (provided by Buttercups or NPA, 2019 or before)
  • HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management or equivalent experience. However, individuals who do not possess this qualification but can demonstrate equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
  • Experience in a patient‑focused environment, using knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines
  • A strong alignment with NHS Lothian’s values and a willingness to contribute to our dynamic team
  • Experience in cancer services desirable but not essential, as relevant training will be fully supported.
