NHS Lothian Prisons, 0.5 WTE Band 8A Permanent Posts.
Part‑time salary pro‑rata. The post is part of an expanding prison‑based psychology interventions service that provides high‑quality direct and indirect psychological assessments and interventions for prison residents with mental health difficulties. The successful postholders will work with the existing psychology team, as well with multidisciplinary NHS and SPS colleagues, to develop trauma‑informed service delivery and increase access to psychological approaches across both HMP Edinburgh and HMP Addiewell.
- Provide direct and indirect psychological assessments and interventions for prison residents with mental health difficulties.
- Work with the existing psychology team and multidisciplinary NHS and SPS colleagues to develop trauma‑informed service delivery.
- Increase access to psychological approaches across both HMP Edinburgh and HMP Addiewell.
- Collaborate with the forensic clinical psychology department and widen links within NHS Lothian psychology resources.
- Engage in research and continuing professional development opportunities.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in psychology (e.g., MSc, PhD in Clinical Psychology).
- Membership or record with the PVG Scheme (child and/or adult).
- Full UK working permission to work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to work part‑time (0.5 WTE) with hourly rate adjusted accordingly.
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will also be reduced pro‑rata, but an increase in hourly rate will keep pay stable.
