Salary Scale:
Band 6 / Band 6 Annex 21.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a position within the Medical Equipment Management Service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, to support the delivery of a medical equipment management service. Medical Physics is recruiting experienced electronic/electro‑mechanical service technicians, graduates or technicians from other industry to work within healthcare science as a medical equipment technologist. You will have a degree or technical HND or equivalent qualification in an electronics or medical engineering discipline, and experience of working within an electronic servicing role.

The role involves working effectively within a team to ensure the day‑to‑day running of the service, with good interpersonal skills, a flexible and methodical approach. Experience of working on anaesthesia and ventilation equipment is an advantage. The post may involve traveling and working at various hospitals and clinics in Lothian.

• Support the day‑to‑day running of the Medical Equipment Management Service.
• Provide electronic/electro‑mechanical servicing of medical equipment.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team across multiple clinical specialties and four acute hospital sites.
• Travel to various hospitals and clinics in Lothian as required.
• Apply a flexible, methodical approach to tasks and maintain good interpersonal communication.

• Degree or technical HND or equivalent qualification in electronics or medical engineering.
• Experience in an electronic servicing role.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Good interpersonal skills and a flexible, methodical work approach.
• Experience with anaesthesia and ventilation equipment is an advantage.

• Legal requirement to demonstrate permission to work in the United Kingdom.
• Post holder must have a PVG Scheme membership/record; if not, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland.
• Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, the level of criminal records check may change; post assessed as a regulated role will be subject to the PVG Scheme.
• Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week from 1 April 2026, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate.
