Casual rate, £12.60 per hour. Sleepover rate (if applicable) £100.80 per night.

- This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
- Due to visa restrictions and our shift requirements, candidates on restricted visas may be offered a maximum of 15 hours per week.
- This is a regulated role and requires PVG Disclosure Scotland membership for adults and children.
- As part of our recruitment process, candidates who have lived outside the UK for more than 12 months in the last 10 years will be required to provide a Criminal Convictions Certificate (or equivalent) from the relevant country or countries. The cost of obtaining this certificate will be the responsibility of the candidate.

The main purpose of this post is to provide a caring, efficient and effective 24/7 support service to people who use The Action Group’s Services. This will include assisting people to develop their skills by supervising and participating in various support activities in a way that enriches their opportunities and promotes choice. The main duties for this post are detailed below under two headings:
1) Specific Duties (that apply to this job in particular) and
2) General Duties (that apply to all staff in The Action Group).
The Role
Specific Duties
- Practice the TAG Key Worker system – organising support plans/case reviews, ensuring effective handovers and maintaining records and case files.
- Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of the people we support at all times (e.g., supporting self‑care, carrying out risk assessments).
- Actively develop meaningful and trusting relationships with the people we support.
- Encourage independence in all daily living activities wherever possible and support them only when necessary.
- Promote people’s hobbies, interests and activities, and encourage participation in all aspects of community life.
- Directly assist with personal care as required.
- Work with the people we support to maximise their ability to communicate effectively and promote self‑advocacy wherever possible.
- Advocate on behalf of the people we support when needed (e.g., liaising with external organisations regarding benefits, education, tenancy and employment).
- Work with relatives and carers to arrange support plans and manage complaints, ensuring relatives have a significant role wherever appropriate.
- Find out about the wide range of local services, amenities and organisations available.
- Work with both individuals and groups in all of the above, according to need.
- Participate flexibly in the various shift work patterns required by the needs of the people we support, including after‑hours, evenings and weekends.
- Regularly undertake ‘sleepover’ or ‘waking night’ duties where required.
- From time‑to‑time, the postholder may be asked to cover short‑term absences of Support Workers in other teams.
- Read, and work in accordance with, TAG’s Mission, Aims & Objectives, and current Business Plan.

- Keep on top of own paperwork and maintain effective and organised filing systems.
