Position: 239367 R1 Sonographer
Location: City of Edinburgh

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and conscientious Sonographer to join our radiology team across NHS Lothian. We would welcome candidates with a wide range of ultrasound competencies, however, these posts will provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidates to develop skills in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Small Parts and General Ultrasound, including both outpatients and inpatient work, at the Western General Hospital, St Johns Hospital, Simpson Maternity, Primary Care and Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

This post supports the expansion of services on all sites and provides an excellent career prospect for the successful candidate to broaden their experience in a wide variety of Ultrasound Scanning.

The chosen applicants must be flexible and will work with a wide variety of equipment.

Equipment on the sites include- GE, Samsung, Canon and Philips.

The successful applicant will be required to participate in cross site working, 5/7 rosters and provide cover for evening and weekend shifts.

We would welcome candidates with a wide range of ultrasound competencies with the relevant Postgraduate qualification; however we would also consider applications from Sonographers with experience in only one clinical area as well as trainee Sonographers with a pending PG Certificate/Diploma in Medical Ultrasound.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
