The role:

We are seeking an organised and proactive Medical Secretary to join our team. This is a key role providing administrative and secretarial support to ensure the smooth running of clinical services.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • Permanent
  • Full time 37 hours per week
  • Shift Pattern - Monday-Friday 09:00am-17:00pm
  • Location based in Gartnavel General Hospital
Key responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive secretarial support to consultants and clinical teams.
  • Manage patient correspondence, Inpatient waiting list, and medical records accurately.
  • Handle telephone enquiries and liaise with patients, staff, and external organisations professionally.
  • Prepare and process documentation, including clinic letters and reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection regulations at all times.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Previous experience in a medical or healthcare administrative role.
  • Excellent typing and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
