Role Overview

We are delighted to invite applications for a Senior Psychologist to work within the Edinburgh Psychological Therapies Service. This role supports the further development of psychological services and requires an enthusiastic and committed professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied individual clinical caseload across the spectrum of psychological and mental health difficulties.
  • Provide individual and group supervision to staff, and give line management to a number of team members.
  • Play a key role in strategies to reduce waiting times for patients.
  • Engage in training and development opportunities, including a whole–service CPD plan and development of treatment pathways for complex needs.
  • Support service development initiatives driven by strategic change and collaborate with senior posts across the wider AMH services.
  • Work within the structure of the Royal Edinburgh Associated Services (REAS), reporting to the Services Director of REAS while remaining embedded in the Psychological Therapies team.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Hold a relevant postgraduate qualification – Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical or Counselling Psychology – and be eligible for HCPC registration.
  • Current membership or record on the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme relevant to the regulatory group (child and/or adult).
  • Willful participation in required criminal records checks, subject to regulatory changes effective from 1 April 2025.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex mental health populations and provide leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
