Band 6 Specialist Rotational Radiographer – Cardiovascular Labs and Main Department Rotation, including CT. The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and well‑motivated radiographer to join our imaging team in this full‑time Band 6 post. The postholder will rotate in 12‑week blocks between the Cardiovascular Labs and the main Band 6 rotational radiographer rota.
Responsibilities- Rotate through 12‑week blocks between the Cardiovascular Labs and the main departmental rotation.
- During the main departmental rotation, provide comprehensive radiographic services in A&E, theatres, mobile radiography, inpatient and outpatient x‑ray imaging, fluoroscopy, orthopaedics, East Sector Community Hospitals and CT.
- In the Cardiovascular Labs, deliver diagnostic and interventional imaging support across Cardiac Cath Labs and Interventional Radiology, including electrophysiology, cardiac device procedures, vascular and non‑vascular interventional radiology, and emergency procedures such as primary percutaneous coronary intervention and arterial embolisation.
- Collaborate closely with radiologists, cardiologists, nurses, cardiac physiologists and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Participate in the 5/7, evening, weekend and out‑of‑hours rota arrangements required for a major trauma centre.
- Demonstrate leadership, supervise and support students, newly appointed radiographers, assistant practitioners and clinical assistants.
- Band 6 registration (or equivalent) and a PVG Scheme membership/record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult).
- Relevant clinical experience in CT, Cardiac Cath Labs or Interventional Radiology is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience in general radiography and a willingness to maintain and develop skills across a broad range of modalities.
The department uses a wide range of modern imaging equipment, including Philips, Samsung and Fujifilm general radiography systems, Siemens and GE mobile image intensifiers, GE Innova and Allia cardiac imaging systems, Siemens Artis Zee vascular systems, Canon Aquilion CT scanners and a new Canon Alphenix Sky+ interventional imaging system.
Legal and Regulatory RequirementsTo work in the United Kingdom, you must have the relevant permission to work in the country as granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. This post requires the holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
