Job SummaryThe Children's Hearing service at NHS Lothian is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the paediatric audiology team in an exciting fixed‑term (12 months) role in a purpose‑built Children’s Hospital in Edinburgh.
Responsibilities- Support the paediatric audiology service clinically, carrying out diagnostic hearing assessments for children aged over 4 years in the ENT clinic.
- Deliver face‑to‑face appointments at The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and at Lauriston Hospital.
- Support diagnostic testing of children aged 0‑18 years, including A , ASSR, Visual Reinforcement Audiometry, Performance Audiometry, Pure Tone Audiometry, TEAOE testing, Otoscopy and Tympanometry.
- Fit hearing aids for all ages and participate in the national microtia service for implantable devices.
- Contribute to service improvement and development including SOPs, patient information audit, quality improvement and identifying opportunities for patient safety and outcomes.
- Work within the clinic operating hours Monday to Friday 08:00–18:00 and complete approximately 36 hours per week within that window.
- Strong supportive background in paediatric audiology; new graduates may apply with the promise of a supportive start.
- PVG Scheme membership or willingness to complete a PVG check for the relevant regulatory group.
- UK work permission: must be able to demonstrate legal right to work in the UK.
- Excellent organisational and team‑working skills and a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Knowledge of paediatric hearing assessment procedures and equipment.
- Understanding of NHS Scotland equality principles and ability to support disabled, long‑term condition, and neurodivergent candidates.
- Fixed‑term, 12 month contract with possibility of extension.
