Role OverviewClinical Psychologist Band 8a: 0.6 WTE – Fixed Term Post (Maternity Cover) for 5 months
Position situated within the South East Edinburgh Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), Ballenden House, Edinburgh. The role is designed for an individual experienced with severe and complex mental health problems, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities- Deliver specialist psychology assessment, formulation and application of psychological models.
- Provide individual and group therapies, supported by evidence‑based practice.
- Support multi‑disciplinary staff through shared assessments, psychological formulation and reflective practice.
- Consult and contribute to team formulation, shared decision‑making and mandatory mandatory mandatory mandatory reflection.
- Teaching and training for the CMHT staff as part of the role.
- Recent completion of clinical training or equivalent experience in community mental health psychology.
- Membership or record within the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for the relevant regulatory group (child and/or adult).
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and to provide clinical supervision and consultation.
- Good understanding of contemporary psychological therapies and assessment techniques.
- Primary: 0.6 WTE for 5 months (fixed term maternity cover).
- Alternative patterns may be considered, e.g., 0.3 WTE for 10 months.
The role requires a PVG Scheme membership or record. If the applicant is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and a satisfactory outcome obtained before starting. Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, a different level of criminal records check may be required for regulated roles.
