Position:
Pharmacy Technician Higher Level (Band
5) – 1.0 WTE, 36 hours. Fixed-Term/Secondment for 9 months. This role is split between ward-based clinical duties and dispensary-based duties. Commitment includes evenings, weekends and public holidays.
This post combines clinical pharmacy duties in wards with dispensary responsibilities. As a Clinical Pharmacy Technician, you will work with pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe, timely and effective use of medicines. As a Dispensary Pharmacy Technician, you will support the safe supply of medicines to inpatients via the CMM/HEPMA system and verify outpatient and inpatient prescriptions to enable safe and timely patient discharges.
YourResponsibilities
- Taking comprehensive medication histories upon patient admission
- Supporting medicines management throughout the inpatient stay
- Verifying discharge prescriptions to ensure accuracy and continuity of care
- Providing specialist counselling to patients to promote understanding and adherence to their medication regimens
- Participating in regular ACT activities within the Dispensary
- Directing day-to-day workflow and supporting the senior technical team

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified individual who meets the following criteria:
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Holds a Final Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (FACPT) qualification (HN Unit:
Procedures for Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technicians or Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician Award, as appropriate) - Normally holds a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Pharmacy Services Development and Management; applicants without this qualification but with equivalent professional experience may be considered with additional documentation (Mapping Assessment Form and Portfolio of Evidence as part of the application process)
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to enhancing patient care through proactive and evidence-based pharmaceutical services
