OverviewNHS Lothian serves a population of approximately 1 million people, employs 35,000 people and is fundamentally focussed on improving the health and wellbeing of the population.
The NHS Lothian Primary Care Pharmacy and Medicines Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. Pharmaceutical care is provided by a team of around 100 pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and administrators, working across general practices covering the whole of Edinburgh.
Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Lothian.
Responsibilities- Develop and provide clinical and technical pharmacy services within GP practices.
- Deliver patient‑centred, holistic care to improve the safety and effectiveness of medicines.
- Collaborate with GP practices, community pharmacists, care homes and the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to joint projects and initiatives within the HSCP in accordance with local and national priorities.
- MPharm or equivalent with current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Excellent communication, IT and organisational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to complete the RPS Post‑Registration Foundation Training programme, including the independent prescribing qualification where required.
- Primary care experience not essential; training will be fully supported.
- Masters in Pharmacy or equivalent and current GPhC registration.
- PVG Scheme membership/record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult).
- Legal permission to work in the United Kingdom.
