Join our dedicated Pharmacy & Medicines team and play a key role in delivering high-quality service to patients in NHS Lothian.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacist to contribute to our clinical pharmacy service delivery across trauma and elective Orthopaedic wards at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team delivering specialist clinical pharmacy services across trauma and elective orthopaedic wards and peri-operative clinics. The post holder will help develop and deliver the service, supporting challenges around capacity and patient flow, and will play a key role within a multidisciplinary team, including non-medical prescribing.

The Orthopaedic unit provides specialist care across four wards. You will work within a dynamic team alongside Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, Ortho-geriatricians, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Therapists and Antimicrobial Specialists to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

You will be supported to grow and thrive with opportunities to deepen your specialist knowledge while developing key skills in service innovation, staff leadership, education and training. Working in a highly collaborative, cross‑professional environment, you will be empowered to contribute meaningfully to patient care while progressing towards core advanced pharmacist credentials.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with a passion for delivering exceptional clinical care.

• A Master of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent).
• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Completed training or equivalent competence mapped to the RPS Post-Registration Foundation Pharmacist Curriculum.

• Experience in proactively influencing prescribing, using clinical knowledge to optimise patient care.
• A strong patient‑focused approach, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, enabling effective decision‑making in a surgical setting.
• A proactive attitude, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
