We invite applications from enthusiastic and experienced HCPC-registered paramedics to join the School of Health Sciences at Queen Margaret University (QMU), Edinburgh, as a Lecturer in Paramedic Science.

Based within the Division of Nursing and Paramedic Science, the successful applicant will take an active role in the delivery and ongoing development of our BSc Paramedic Science programme
.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Paramedic Science team at QMU and contribute not only to high-quality learning, teaching, assessment and student support, but also to the continued development of the programme and the future direction of paramedic education in Scotland.

The post will involve facilitating learning, teaching and assessment within an interprofessional environment. You will have opportunities to contribute across all stages of the programme, including curriculum and module development, simulation and clinical skills education, student supervision and support, and learning in both university and practice settings.

We are committed to delivering a high-quality, person-centred and contemporary programme that prepares students with the knowledge, skills and professional capabilities required to provide safe and effective care across a range of health and care settings and as members of integrated health and social care teams.

The role provides opportunities to contribute to scholarship, research and knowledge exchange, as well as wider partnership working with colleagues across health, education and professional practice. It may be of particular interest to paramedics with experience or interests in education, advanced or specialist practice, clinical skills and simulation, leadership or service development.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate:

• Substantial and recent experience as an HCPC-registered paramedic
  .
• Recent experience of facilitating learning for paramedics, students or other health and care professionals, including supporting learners in practice.
• An interest in innovative approaches to learning and teaching, including simulation, clinical skills and technology-enhanced learning.
• Evidence of recent and relevant continuing professional development.
• A Master's degree, working towards a Master's degree, or evidence of postgraduate-level learning or equivalent professional experience.
• A positive and collaborative approach to team working, with enthusiasm for new challenges, creative approaches to learning and teaching, and new ways of working.
• Enthusiasm for contributing to the continued development of paramedic education and the profession in Scotland.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• An interest in developing scholarship, research and/or knowledge exchange related to paramedic practice and education.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop as an academic and, where appropriate, will have opportunities to undertake QMU's relevant postgraduate qualification in professional and higher education.
