Are you looking for a rewarding and dynamic role in Critical Care?

Join our dynamic Critical Care Pharmacy team and play a key role in delivering high-quality services within NHS Lothian. We are seeking a specialist pharmacist to work within the Pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams who will optimise complex medication regimens for critically ill patients and will contribute to quality improvement, service development and medication safety initiatives.

About the Role

As a key member of the Critical Care multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • have valued input to the daily consultant led ward rounds, reviewing a varied caseload of surgical and medical patients who may require multi-organ support
  • have the opportunity to use your role as an independent prescriber to optimise patient care and will contribute to the development of evidence based clinical guidelines and to multidisciplinary and Pharmacy meetings.

Clinical specialties seen within the busy general Critical Care unit include Hepatology, Renal Medicine, Transplant Medicine, Vascular and General Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Toxicology, Gastrointestinal Medicine and Neurology.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with a passion for delivering exceptional clinical care.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • A Master of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent).
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Completed training or equivalent competence mapped to the RPS Post-Registration Foundation Pharmacist Curriculum.
Skills and Attributes
  • Experience in proactively influencing prescribing, using clinical knowledge to optimise patient care.
  • A strong patient-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, enabling effective decision-making in an acute medical setting.
  • A proactive attitude, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
