We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they’re likely to die from.

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life.

Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

We want a different society than the one we live in now. Our mission for the next five years is to close the gap in the number of people missing out on what they need at the end-of-life, through 3 ways:

• Growing and transforming our direct care and support
• Delivering more practical information and support
• Leading in shaping the end-of-life experience

Over the past 12 months, Marie Curie has been delivering an Intermediate Palliative Care service at our Edinburgh Hospice, as part of a wider transformation of palliative and end-of-life care across Edinburgh.

The service provides seven additional intermediate palliative care beds, supporting people who require 24-hour care. This includes people being discharged from hospital or admitted from their own homes whose palliative care needs would benefit from additional hospice support.

We’re now looking for compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistants to join our team and help us continue delivering high-quality, person-centred care to people and their families.

Join a team that has been delivering Intermediate Palliative Care for the past 12 months and help us continue developing the care and support we provide.

Work in partnership:
Be part of a service working closely with NHS Lothian, Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership and other care providers.

Help shape future care:
The service forms part of a wider approach to supporting people to receive the right care, in the right place.

• Knowledge of palliative and end of life care
• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this qualification
• A nurturing and compassionate approach, with excellent communication skills
• The ability to work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team

Salary:
Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AFC) £26,696 - £28,988 pro rata per annum + generous enhancements

Contract:

Part-time hours on fixed term contract up to August 2027
