The Alexandra Hospital Bank Shifts Salary:
Up to £25.00 per hour.

We have an opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join their team of staff in the Rehabilitation department. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Speech and Language therapist required to cover and support the inpatient service including medical and rehabilitation patients.
Dutiesof this role include:
- Conduct detailed assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing functions using a variety of clinical tools and techniques.
- Develop and deliver evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient goals, including communication therapy, voice therapy, and dysphagia management.
- Collaborate with medical teams, nursing staff, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
- Educate patients, families, and carers about therapy strategies, communication aids and safe swallowing practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with HCPC, RCSLT, and organisational policies.
- Recommend and support the use of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) tools and resources.
- BSc (Hons) or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Experience with acute medical patients mandatory with a minimum of 5 years experience.
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication & problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with communication and/or swallowing disorders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
