You’ll help run and maintain services according to Group standards and policies (and to agreed service levels) and will assist with the delivery of investment funded work within mainframe environments - this includes out of hours.
Additionally, you’ll provide technical support (including incident and problem resolution for systems and processes in complex environments) – again this includes out of hours support.
** What you’ll do
*** Provide support for complex mainframe environments to tight timescales.
* Help drive the strategy and design across the mainframe development and test estate.
* Own and drive the zDBA technology roadmap, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver against it.
* Implement standardisation and drive improvement initiatives in the team.
* Work collaboratively across the wider Lab and Platform teams to develop, promote, and implement process initiatives.
* Ensure processes, governance, and procedures are rigorously adhered to.

** What you’ll need
*** Extensive in-depth expertise and knowledge of Db2 on z/OS.
* Expert-level experience of performance monitoring and optimisation of Db2, including SQL tuning, buffer pool tuning, with the ability to make targeted recommendations to improve service stability and availability.
* Expert-level experience of governing and approving DDL changes, handling schema evolution, validating impact, and ensuring alignment to change‑control processes.
* Extensive experience of leading the resolution and troubleshooting of critical on-line systems.
* Proven experience of communicating and translating complex technical concepts for Senior Leadership.
* Experience of supporting junior team members, providing coaching on Db2 fundamentals, performance tuning, utilities, and operational processes.
** It would be great if you also had
*** 10+ years of experience as a z/OS Db2 DBA in a financial organisation.
