About the RoleAs a Modern Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to support day‑to‑day IT operations. You’ll assist with troubleshooting, setting up devices, resolving basic technical issues, and providing great service to end‑users. You’ll also undertake structured training provided by an approved apprenticeship provider, helping you build strong foundational skills in IT support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide first‑line support to internal and external users
- Assist with device setup, configuration, software installation, and account creation
- Help diagnose and resolve common IT issues
- Log and update support tickets accurately
- Work professionally with colleagues and customers at varying technical levels
- Participate fully in apprenticeship training, assessments, and mentoring sessions
- Follow internal processes relating to security, data protection, and documentation
- Contribute positively to team culture and continuous improvement
During your apprenticeship, you ll develop:
- Core IT support skills (troubleshooting, configuration, maintenance)
- Communication, customer service, and teamwork abilities
- Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking approaches
- ICT and digital literacy competencies
- Professional behaviours expected in a technical support environment
- Optional vendor certifications depending on training provider (e.g. Microsoft Azure, CompTIA)
- Aged 16 or over and eligible for a Modern Apprenticeship
- No formal qualifications required — just a genuine interest in IT and problem‑solving
- Strong communication skills and a positive, can‑do attitude
- Willingness to learn, take feedback, and develop new skills
- Ability to work well with others and provide friendly, professional support
- Basic familiarity with computers, devices, or technology (preferred but not essential)
