Job Description

In our HPC & AI Business Unit, we focus on cutting edge, high-performance, high-scale customer solutions serving a wide range of industries and end-users.

We are currently looking for a HPC Technology Consultant to join us to provide hardware and software support onsite on large HPC (High Performance Computing) systems for a prestigious UK customer, based in Edinburgh.

As a HPC Technology Consultant you will work as part of a dedicated team providing support (hardware and software) on a range of HPE’s HPC systems. The role will include participating in a 7x24 hour on-call rota to ensure strict SLA (Service Level Agreement) associated with the contract.

This is a High-Performance Computing (HPC) specialized position that offers in-depth exposure to Linux, High Speed Networks and Parallel file systems. You will be responsible for providing in-depth technical support and become a trusted advisor to the customer.

The successful candidate must be willing to be submitted for UK Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a dedicated team to deliver support on advanced HPC hardware and software technologies.
  • Maintain meticulous records of planned maintenance actions and outcomes within the case management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with customer rules for change management controls.
  • Possess excellent customer interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Provide a professional and positive approach to the customer in the execution of all duties.
  • Follow technical escalation procedures to ensure critical issues receive maximum focus.
  • Occasionally work as part of a wider team to provide support to other customers within EMEA.
Education And Experience Required
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a computer science or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience of HPC and Linux Systems.
  • Ability to gain UK Government Security Clearance (DV)
Knowledge And Skills
  • An in-depth knowledge of Linux and ability to perform hardware repairs are mandatory requirements.
  • Good knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible and Linux kernel features such as memory management is essential.
  • Strong script writing skills on platforms such as Python, Bash, etc.
  • Patching and securing Linux and dealing with system vulnerabilities.
  • Possess an analytical approach to problem solving and be fully committed to drive issues to conclusion.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
  • An ability to stay calm and professional under pressure while working to strict deadlines is essential.
  • The candidate should be flexible and be able to travel when required.
Knowledge Of The Below Products Is Desirable
  • Cluster management software (HPCM / Bright Cluster Manager).
  • Job Schedulers SLURM.
  • High-speed networks (Infini Band).
  • Parallel file systems (Lustre).
  • Kubernetes experience.
