Edinburgh 2 days per week.
£130,000 - £140,000 + bonus (and loads of benefits!)
This role is working with my good friend Sarah. She runs a team within a large org, where her and her team are protecting customers from fraud, scams, and financial threats.
If you love solving complex problems, shaping modern architecture, and helping teams deliver brilliant products faster, this role is for you.
The role:
As a Solution Architect, you'll be at the centre of designing and shaping scalable, modern systems built using microservices and event-driven architecture.
You'll support a small team of fellow techies, working closely with Product Owners, Engineers, and Enterprise Architects to create solutions that are robust, scalable, maintainable and genuinely future proof.
You'll play a key role in enabling teams to move at pace not by adding red tape, but by giving them the architecture, patterns and clarity they need to build confidently.
You'll spend your time designing, guiding, coaching, and helping delivery teams succeed. Shaping and deliver end-to-end solution architecture, leading complex technical design work. Champion best practice and influence long-term strategy, developing frameworks and methods that help teams optimise resources and improve performance.
The team are shaping finance as a force for good, and is serious about using technology to protect customers and prevent harm.
What you'll need:
You'll be a strong technical leader who can both design and communicate modern architecture clearly.
Experience:
Strong architecture and engineering experience, particularly designing microservice and cloud-based solutions
Previous hands-on engineering experience (software development or similar) and a deep understanding of build, delivery and design principles
The ability to tell the story of the architecture and bring people with you
Experience designing modern ecosystems that support the transformation of monolithic applications
Strong stakeholder and collaboration skills - able to energise product and engineering communities
Practical experience defining patterns, standards and practices that guide engineering teams
Desirable:
Experience supporting small-to-medium teams and coaching others
Benefits (high level)
Generous pension contribution
Annual bonus (performance dependent)
Share schemes
Flexible lifestyle benefits
30 days holiday plus bank holidays
Wellbeing support and generous parental leave
