JOB TITLE: Senior Dev Ops Engineer

SALARY: £72,702 - £80,780

LOCATION(S): Halifax

HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Halifax office.

CIO Enabling Services provides Test Environment Services to deliver and continuously improve test environment engineering through innovation and automation, driving excellence in test environments and test data provisioning.

Supporting the whole of LBG with an expertise in Major Programmes, our team provides end to end testing environments using both physical and cloud-based solutions. With an eye on virtualisation and self‑service the team is developing a range of service offerings to help speed up provisioning of environments to support fast paced change.

Joining us as a Dev Ops Engineer specialising in Test Environment Services you’ll play a pivotal role within the area. You'll help drive technical delivery by providing effective coordination and integration of various technical components that requires cross‑cutting engagement across multiple Labs and/or third parties to deliver all aspects of test environment solutions.

You’ll get to work closely with the various engineering roles within test environment services ensuring you contribute to the prioritisation of your deliverables, as well as other members of the team such as the environment specialists around key dependencies and engineering leads to ensure we do the right thing for our customers.

• You’ll assess current Programmes/Projects ways of working in relation to:
  • Develop / Deploy / Test
  • Understand how long the speed to market is, e.g. average time from checking in code to deployment in live.
  • Understand and assess any difficulties or bottle necks and what can be done to alleviate them by automation.
  • Discover repeatable manual process, can they be automated?
  • Assess current CI/CD pipelines.
• You’ll be providing advice and direction for process improvements and implementation of best practices:
  • Understand current Dev Ops best practices.
  • Produce a report detailing the areas of improvement.
  • Estimate time and effort to implement remedial work.
  • Detail required applications/infrastructure.
  • Ensure suggested remedial work in line with best practices.
• Provide Programme/Project assistance on tooling recommendations, infrastructure, installations or configurations:
  • Assist in acquiring any infrastructure and/or installation and configuration of required applications.
  • Design and set up Dev Ops intervention, creating frameworks and CI/CD pipeline.
  • Work with QA to build and automated tests and integrate them into a CI pipeline.
  • Document and upskill area to be self‑sufficient moving forward.

• What we need from you – core skills required / experience with the following:
• GIT / GITHUB enterprise
• Jenkins Pipelines: including the ability to understand and write Jenkins files.
• Urban Code Deploy and/or Chef
• Nexus Repository
• Selenium
• Scripting
• Sonacube
• Cloud Associate accreditation or well on the way towards obtaining
