About Skyscanner

Everyone loves travelling, but planning is not without its challenges. That's why we've spent 20 years building tools that turn travel-planning chaos into a breeze. Today, around 100 million travellers count on us every month to skip the whole “47 browser tabs open” phase and find flights, cars, and hotels quickly and easily.

Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that's striving to become the planet's go-to travel hack accessible for all.

Our vision? To be the world's number one travel ally. (Ambitious? Yes, but, hey, that's what got us here)

About

The Role

(Hybrid)

  • At the heart of advertising at Skyscanner:
This role sits right at the centre of our £100M+ ads business, powering the data behind every impression, click and booking.
  • Big impact, big responsibility:
As a Data Engineer in our Advertising tribe (aka the Robins 🐦), your work will directly shape our ads strategy for years to come.
  • From insights to influence:
You’ll help our partners – including some of the world’s biggest travel brands – understand performance, predict outcomes and maximise ROAS.
  • A product-led mindset:
You’ll build data products that don’t just work, but genuinely help teams and partners make smarter decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Building end-to-end data products:
Leading implementation across analysis, processing, ingestion and visualisation of advertising data.
  • Powering Brand Analytics:
Tracking and visualising changes in user behaviour to inform partners and improve performance forecasting.
  • Owning booking ingestion:
Consolidating 1st and 3rd party data to unlock deeper understanding of traveller behaviour.
  • Creating a single source of truth:
Bringing together fragmented advertising datasets into robust, trusted ads entities.
  • Working across the stack:
Supporting and scaling data products using Databricks, Airflow, Astronomer, Python (PySpark) and Druid.
  • Collaborating by default:
Partnering closely with analysts, engineers and product teams across the data engineering community.
  • Raising the bar:
Championing Skyscanner’s data engineering best practices across the squad.
About You
  • Technically capable:
You’ve worked with some of Databricks, Airflow, Astronomer, Python (PySpark) or Druid (and you’re keen to learn more).
  • Built for scale:
You know how to design, build and operate data systems that perform under pressure.
  • Engineering-minded:
You care deeply about best practices, quality and solving complex problems the right way.
  • Product-focused:
You want to build things that deliver real value to Skyscanner, our partners and our travellers.
  • Collaborative:
You thrive in teams, share knowledge freely and enjoy building things together.

    Curious by nature:
You’re always looking to learn, improve and experiment with better ways of doing things.
  • A great human:
You bring a positive attitude, a sense of ownership and a healthy dose of humour along the way.
