Shape the Future of Responsible AI in Financial ServicesWe are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking AI Governance Manager to join our client, an Edinburgh-based financial services organisation at a pivotal moment in their digital transformation journey. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development and oversight of responsible AI frameworks within a highly regulated environment, ensuring innovation is delivered safely, ethically, and in line with evolving regulatory expectations.
The RoleAs AI Governance Manager, you will be responsible for establishing, embedding, and continuously enhancing our client’s AI governance framework. Working closely with Risk, Compliance, Data, Technology, Legal, and business leadership teams, you will ensure that AI systems are transparent, accountable, fair, and compliant with UK and international regulatory standards.
You will act as a subject matter expert on AI risk and regulation, helping the organisation balance innovation with robust risk management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain the organisation’s AI governance framework, policies, and standards
- Oversee AI model lifecycle governance, including model risk, validation, monitoring, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. FCA requirements, PRA expectations, GDPR, EU AI Act where applicable)
- Lead AI risk assessments, controls testing, and assurance activities
- Chair or support AI governance committees and reporting to senior stakeholders
- Provide guidance on ethical AI, bias mitigation and model transparency
- Support regulatory engagement and internal audit activity relating to AI
- Deliver training and awareness initiatives across the business
- Proven experience in AI governance, model risk management, or technology risk within financial services
- Strong understanding of UK financial services regulation and emerging AI regulatory frameworks
- Knowledge of model lifecycle management, validation techniques, and risk controls
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in risk, compliance, or technology functions
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language
- Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- Experience implementing AI governance in line with the EU AI Act or similar frameworks
- Professional qualifications in risk, compliance, data, or technology governance
- Background in data science, analytics, or machine learning environments
- Play a central role in shaping responsible AI within a leading financial services organisation
