Salary Range: £53,000 - £71,000
OverviewAt Leonardo UK, you’ll help shape and strengthen the organisation’s data capabilities by building scalable, reliable, and future‑ready data solutions that enable informed decision‑making across the business. As a Data Engineer, you’ll work in a collaborative and fast‑paced environment where innovation, automation, and data integrity are central to success.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to support ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery of data across multiple systems and platforms.
- Manage and optimise enterprise data environments, including cloud‑based data warehouses and data lakes such as Snowflake, Big Query, Redshift and Azure Synapse, ensuring high levels of scalability, reliability and performance.
- Collaborate closely with Data Science, Business Intelligence and Engineering teams to ensure data is accurate, accessible and aligned to business objectives.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organisation to gather reporting and analytics requirements, translating business needs into effective and sustainable data solutions.
- Automate data integration, orchestration and monitoring workflows using modern tools and frameworks including Python, Dagster and Azure Data Factory.
- Support the development and optimisation of dashboards and reporting solutions across platforms such as Power
BI, Tableau and Looker, helping to ensure semantic consistency and trusted reporting outputs. - Maintain high‑quality documentation and governance standards to ensure traceability, reproducibility and compliance across data assets, pipelines and processes.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve data architecture, operational efficiency and engineering best practices across the wider data ecosystem.
- Technical expertise
:
Strong knowledge of SQL, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing and modern data platforms; experience with Python, Dagster, Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL is essential; familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark is advantageous. - Analytical thinking

Ability to interpret complex datasets and support the development of meaningful, insight‑driven BI solutions. - Problem solving

Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex data integration and data quality challenges. - Communication

Commitment to maintaining clear, structured documentation to support traceability and best practice. - Experience in data engineering, data management or a related field, with hands‑on expertise in data integration and pipeline development.
- Certifications (desirable):
Industry‑recognised certifications such as Microsoft Certified:

This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
