Smallworld Consultant

We are looking for a Functional Small world Consultant to support the delivery of complex geospatial solutions across major electrical utility projects in the UK and Europe.

Duties & Requirements

* Lead and support requirements gathering workshops with business users, technical teams and project stakeholders.

* Analyse operational, functional and technical requirements across electricity distribution and transmission projects.

* Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, process maps and solution specifications.

* Assess existing Small world processes, applications and data structures, identifying opportunities for improvement.

* Work closely with devs, architects, testers and project managers to ensure solutions meet agreed requirements.

* Act as the key functional link between client stakeholders and technical delivery teams.

* Support the design and configuration of Small world based solutions for electrical utility environments.

* Produce functional design documents, business requirements documents, use cases and acceptance criteria.

* Support data migration, data validation and data-quality activities where required.

* Assist with integrations between Small world and wider enterprise systems, including asset management, work management, outage management and network-modelling platforms.

* Support system upgrades, application enhancements and transformation programmes.

* Participate in solution demonstrations, design reviews and client presentations.

* Develop test scenarios and support system, integration and user acceptance testing.

* Coordinate with end users during UAT, helping to investigate issues and confirm that delivered functionality meets expectations.

* Support defect triage and work with technical teams to resolve functional issues.

* Produce user guides, process documentation and training materials.

* Deliver training and knowledge-transfer sessions to client teams and system users.

* Provide functional support during implementation, deployment and post-go-live phases.

Essential Experience

* Strong experience operating in a functional consultancy, business analysis or solution delivery role.

* Experience delivering Small world solutions within the electrical utilities sector.

* Good understanding of electricity network data, asset info and operational processes.

* Proven experience gathering, analysing and documenting complex business requirements.

* Experience translating business requirements into functional specifications for technical delivery teams.

* Strong understanding of the software delivery lifecycle, including design, build, testing, deployment and support.

Desirable Experience

* Experience with electricity distribution or transmission network operators.

* Knowledge of Small world Electric Office or related Small world utility applications.

* Understanding of network connectivity, topology, electrical assets and utility data models.

* Exposure to Small world Magik development or the ability to work effectively with Magik developers
