About Us

The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible for the superintendence and management of all lighthouses, buoys and beacons within those waters. We have provided this vital safety service to mariners since 1786.

The Role – Overview

Based at the NLB’s Headquarters in Edinburgh, as Technical Systems Officer you will primarily manage the deployment of new computers and mobile devices to all users, investigate emerging hardware/ software technologies, and provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to resolve issues for NLB employees.

Salary and Benefits

  • £36,867 per annum rising to £39,920 after 1 year in post.

Qualifications/ Experience Required

  • HND in Computing Subject
  • Or 3 years’ experience 1st/2nd line Helpdesk Support.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of MS Windows operating systems.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of PC architecture.
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager qualification preferred or experience.
  • Knowledge of ICT security approaches and trends.
  • Experience of Sophos, Apple, Teams, Office 365 preferred.
  • Advanced technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO
    27001 Information Security standards.
