Senior IT Audit Manager

Location: Edinburgh, Birmingham or London (Hybrid)

Salary: £85,000 - £110,000 + Excellent Benefits

The Opportunity

A leading financial services organisation is looking for an experienced Senior IT Audit Manager to join its Internal Audit function. This is a high-profile role offering the opportunity to lead complex technology audit engagements, influence senior stakeholders, and help shape the organisation's approach to technology risk, governance and control. You'll oversee a diverse portfolio of audits across areas including Cyber Security, IT Operations, Data Governance, Operational Resilience and Emerging Technology Risk, while supporting the continuous evolution of modern audit practices.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, enabling them to provide trusted advice and challenge at senior levels across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a portfolio of IT audits and assurance reviews, ensuring high-quality delivery across planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow-up.
  • Prioritise competing audit activities and manage resources effectively to meet business objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance on technology risk and control matters to audit colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Focus audit activity on key organisational risks, adapting scope and approach as required.
  • Coach and develop Internal Audit Managers and junior team members, helping to strengthen capability across the function.
  • Build credibility with senior stakeholders through evidence-led challenge and insightful recommendations.
  • Identify recurring themes, trends and risk patterns across audit activity to provide broader organisational insight.
  • Ensure emerging issues and risks are escalated promptly and effectively.
  • Support the development of innovative audit methodologies, including the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of technology risk assurance practices across the organisation.
What We're Looking For Essential Experience
  • Experience leading multiple concurrent IT or technology audit engagements.
  • Proven ability to oversee a portfolio of complex technical audits.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including experience engaging with senior leadership.
  • People management, coaching and team development experience.
  • Ability to balance technical expertise with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Technical Expertise

Strong understanding of several of the following areas:

  • Cyber Security
  • IT Operations
  • Operational Resilience
  • Data Governance
  • Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology Risk

Experience in:

  • Auditing environments where key technology services are outsourced to strategic partners.
  • Technology platforms including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Risk and control frameworks within complex, regulated environments.
Qualifications Essential
  • CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
Desirable
  • CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • AAIA or other AI-related certifications
  • ISO 42001 knowledge or certification

Flexible Working

Flexible working arrangements are actively supported, including part-time, job-share and other flexible working options where suitable.

The role operates on a hybrid basis, typically involving a minimum of two days per week in the office with the remainder worked remotely. Some UK travel may be required depending on audit and stakeholder requirements.
