Location: City of Edinburgh

At Cognizant, we engineer modern businesses to improve everyday life. We are looking for a Sonata Configuration Analyst who can bring deep platform knowledge, strong analytical thinking and a collaborative mindset to help our clients get the best from the Bravura Sonata platform.

This is a hands-on specialist role where you will act as a trusted advisor across product configuration, solution design, business process alignment, platform governance and change delivery. You will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, delivery partners and vendors to ensure Sonata remains stable, scalable and fit for purpose.

What you’ll do:

Solution design, configuration and change delivery
  • Bring specialist Sonata expertise to platform enhancements, projects and strategic change initiatives.
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable Sonata solutions, including configuration, workflows, rules, product setup, operational processes and integration considerations.
  • Assess proposed changes, identify risks and dependencies, and ensure solutions align with platform standards, business objectives and good practice.
Platform governance and business alignment
  • Ensure Sonata solutions support business needs, regulatory expectations and the wider platform strategy.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to shape improvements, challenge requirements constructively and identify opportunities to simplify, automate and optimise.
  • Support the prioritisation of platform enhancements and continuous improvement activity, balancing business value, risk and delivery complexity.
Testing, releases and vendor engagement
  • Provide Sonata expertise across testing, release planning, implementation and post-release assurance.
  • Develop and support test scenarios for configuration changes, helping teams validate that solutions meet requirements and operate as expected.
  • Act as a key point of contact for product discussions, upgrades, roadmap alignment, vendor engagement and platform capability assessments.
Knowledge sharing and capability development
  • Maintain Sonata standards, documentation and knowledge assets so teams can work consistently and confidently.
  • Promote consistent platform practices and knowledge sharing across delivery, support and business teams.
  • Coach colleagues on Sonata capabilities and help reduce dependency on a small number of platform specialists.
What you’ll bring:
  • Strong knowledge of product configuration for UK pensions and ISAs.
  • Experience translating regulatory and business requirements into robust product design and configuration.
  • Ability to create test scenarios that support configuration change and release assurance.
  • Knowledge of the Sonata data model, with the confidence to investigate issues and understand downstream impacts.
  • Ability to write SQL queries to support investigation, validation and analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of the Sonata application, including:
  • Sonata job setup
  • Transformation scripts
  • Users, groups and permissions, including targeted access to Sonata
  • Awareness of how a Source of Truth is structured and managed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues, connect technical detail to business impact and remain calm under pressure.
Nice to have
  • Knowledge of Sonata Workflow.
  • Experience managing multiple Sources of Truth.
  • Experience using testing tools such as SOAPUI or ReadyAPI to construct SBS requests.
  • Awareness of Agile delivery methods.
How you’ll succeed:
  • You bring a strong understanding of UK pensions and the confidence to operate in a complex, regulated environment.
  • You enjoy solving problems, troubleshooting issues and getting to the root cause quickly.
  • You can manage multiple priorities effectively without losing sight of detail, quality or risk.
  • You stay composed under pressure and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You have strong attention to detail and take pride in delivering reliable, well-governed solutions.
  • You bring a positive, can-do attitude and work well as part of a collaborative team.
  • You are always looking for better ways of working and are motivated by continuous improvement.
