About the role
We are looking for an Underwriter to join our Newcastle office (other regional Lycetts offices may also be considered). This role offers an excellent opportunity to manage and expand a renewal portfolio, collaborate with brokers, contribute to product development, and build strong relationships with insurers and colleagues.

What you'll be doing- Play a key role in managing and growing a developing renewal and new business portfolio.
- Cross‑train across various binders and different sectors.
- Work with our broking team to ensure a smooth renewal process, reviewing and improving processes and client outcomes.
- Help establish new products within the underwriting team, building relationships with insurers and our account executives/handlers.
- Offer expert advice and solutions to our broking arm.
- Participate in client‑centric projects, standardising and automating processes through innovative technology deployment.
- Be part of a growing team.
- Previous insurance industry knowledge, with experience in Farm & Estate or Commercial underwriting. We welcome candidates with varying experience levels and can position the role accordingly.
- An insatiable appetite to learn and a positive, solution‑focused mindset.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- The ability to build and nurture cooperative and productive relationships across the broader team.
- Cert CII qualification.
