We are working with one of the UK’s leading loss adjusting firms, which is continuing to grow its Property team across the Southeast. They are looking for experienced Property Loss Adjusters to manage a varied portfolio of domestic and commercial property claims, with a good level of autonomy, technical responsibility and client exposure. You will take ownership of your claims from initial instruction through to settlement.

The role involves a broad range of property losses, including escape of water, fire, flood, storm, impact, theft, malicious damage, subsidence and other insured perils, with exposure to higher value and more technically complex losses depending on experience. You will attend site to investigate and validate losses, establish cause and extent of damage, consider policy coverage, assess quantum and work with contractors and other specialists where required.

Role Responsibilities:

Managing a portfolio of domestic and commercial property claims from initial instruction through to settlement. Carrying out site inspections to establish cause, circumstances and extent of damage. Investigating and validating claims and determining the appropriate claims strategy. Reviewing policy wordings, schedules, endorsements and exclusions to establish indemnity and policy liability. Handling losses arising from escape of water, fire, flood, storm, impact, theft, malicious damage, subsidence and other property perils.

Assessing buildings and contents damage, including alternative accommodation, loss of rent and business interruption where applicable. Producing clear and detailed reports for insurer and client consideration, including recommendations on liability, quantum, reserves and claims strategy. Setting and reviewing reserves throughout the lifecycle of the claim. Preparing and agreeing scopes of work and reviewing repair estimates. Considering reinstatement and cash settlement options where appropriate.

Appointing and managing contractors, surveyors, engineers, forensic investigators, restoration specialists and other experts. Liaising with policyholders, commercial clients, brokers and insurers throughout the claim. Identifying potential recovery, contribution, subrogation and fraud concerns. Negotiating quantum and settlement within delegated authority. Carrying out follow-up inspections and monitoring claims where required. Managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring claims are progressed within agreed timescales.

Experience:

Previous experience within property loss adjusting or a similar property claims environment. Experience handling domestic and/or commercial property claims. Good understanding of property insurance products, policy wordings, indemnity, liability and quantum. Comfortable managing a caseload independently and taking ownership from instruction through to settlement. Confident attending site and dealing directly with policyholders, commercial clients and appointed experts. Strong technical, analytical and report writing skills.

Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to provide clear technical advice. Experience handling higher value or technically complex losses would be advantageous. Cert CII and/or Cert CILA qualifications are advantageous, with support available for further professional development. Full…
