Cleaning Services, Facility Maintenance
Location: City of Edinburgh
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team. You will deliver a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure our properties are safe, clean and welcoming places to work, study or visit. - Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
- Clean sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Perform emergency and reactive cleaning as required, e.g. removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
- Maintain care and cleanliness of all equipment used in carrying out duties.
- Provide supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings when required.
- Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet agreed standards.
- Act as a key holder – operate security alarm systems, close windows and doors, switch off lights and ensure premises are left safe and secure.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will:
- Join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check.
- Provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check if you have spent 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years.
- Be willing to comply with all pre‑employment checks.

Salary: £24,346 – £24,646 (pro‑rata for part‑time).
Hours:
15 per week, 52 weeks. Working Monday to Friday 5 pm until 8 pm (flexible shift options available).
