Gas Combustion Engineer - Non Domestic

Requisition

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Gas Combustion Engineer (non‑domestic) to join our Edinburgh/Borders and Clackmannanshire school account. This role is on‑site based. The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). The position requires covering around 23 school sites, travelling between locations as required (company van provided for business use only).

Commercial gas qualifications and Gas Safe registration are essential, as you’ll be ensuring a warm, safe, and comfortable environment for our educational facilities. You will also need a full UK Driving Licence to navigate between sites efficiently.

You Will Be Responsible For
  • Routine and non‑routine maintenance.
  • Fault finding and identification of life‑expired equipment; working with a variety of plant equipment such as gas appliances, gas boilers, heating plant, pumps and ventilation; minor plumbing work is required.
  • Gas appliance servicing and inspection including combustion analysis and flue gas integrity testing.
  • Check, repair and mend faults and life‑expired equipment.
  • Inspections and risk assessment.
  • Minimise wastage and continually improve processes.
  • Ensure statutory works are carried out on time and that work is compliant.
  • This role may include working at height and in all weather conditions.
  • Occasionally you may be requested to undertake work outside of your role, by your line manager.
  • New works, installations, upgrades and commissioning.
We Want To Hear From You If You Have
  • Full driving licence.
  • Relevant commercial gas qualifications including COCN1, CCN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A, CODNCO1, CGGA1, CIGA1, CENWAT

  • Proven experience carrying out service and breakdown on industrial/commercial boilers and appliances, and strong technical knowledge with fault‑finding and diagnostic ability.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Plumbing (advantageous for water systems).
  • Legionella awareness and compliance.
  • Plumbing experience will be advantageous.
