Working Hours: 40 hours per week - varied shift pattern, Monday to Sunday (weekend availability is essential)

Pay: £12.71 per hour

Location: Waverley Market Shopping Centre, 3/48 Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh, EH1 1BQ

Reporting to: Operations Manager / Contracts Manager

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services, for an experienced cleaner to join our established team based at Waverley Market Shopping Centre in Edinburgh as a Cleaning Operative. The successful candidate will be required to carry out a range of cleaning tasks, safely and professionally, to a high standard. You must be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, have the ability to communicate on all levels and provide flexibility to cover additional shifts, as and when required.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about cleanliness, takes pride in their work, and enjoys contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for customers, visitors and colleagues. Previous cleaning experience within a shopping centre/retail environment is desirable but not necessary.

Duties
  • Cleaning of designated areas, ensuring the agreed cleaning specification is completed, as per the site instructions
  • Emptying of bins, ensuring recycled waste is disposed of correctly
  • Attending to spillages by making sure they are cleaned up, within an efficient timeframe, to prevent accidents and ensure site and staff safety
  • Following H&S and COSHH regulations
  • Use of site‑specific equipment, machinery and handling chemicals
  • Proactive interaction with on‑site clients and customers, offering excellent customer service
  • Carrying out any other reasonable management requests
  • Remaining flexible to cover duties as required
  • Contributing to overall team performance by completing additional duties as needed
  • Understanding the needs of our customer, respond accordingly to customer queries and requests and take appropriate action
Requirements
  • An understanding of COSHH
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Flexibility to cover shifts as and when required
  • Reliable and responsible with a flexible approach to work
