Cleaning Operative – Dean Park
Salary: £26,205 – £26,525 (pro‑rata for part‑time and sessional)
Hours:
10 per week, 38 weeks sessional
Working pattern:
Monday – Friday, 16:00 – 18:00
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of the Facilities Management team, delivering a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn. - Empty litter and recycling bins
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers; replenish washroom consumables
- Emergency and reactive cleaning (e.g., removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages)
- Care for and maintain cleanliness of all equipment used in cleaning duties
- Support cleaning tasks across other buildings where required
- Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement so that overall standards are met
* Facilities Management has overall responsibility for keyholding to enable opening and closing of buildings serviced. As part of the duties of a Cleaning Operative and in this role, you will be required to be a key holder, operating security alarm systems, closing windows and doors, switching off lights, and ensuring premises are secure when closing.
Required qualifications / checks- Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007
- Preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check
- Individuals who have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years must provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check
