Overview
As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco covering Edinburgh you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.
Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.
This is a hands‑on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high standards. ResponsibilitiesAs a Maintenance Technician your specific responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks. To thrive in this role, you will need to:
- Confidently interact with external contractors and coordinate repairs seamlessly.
- Work collaboratively with the team, ensuring quality service.
- Sustain high energy levels while juggling tasks efficiently.
- Assist the management team to keep stores operating smoothly by maintaining equipment and facilities.
- Minimise customer disruption by coordinating repairs with minimal impact.
Responsibilities will include;
- Ensuring all Tesco sites are safe and functional environments for customers and colleagues.
- Following the planned work schedule to achieve first‑time fix, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Working closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
- General day‑to‑day store and property maintenance.
- Using mobile devices – phone and tablet – to drive the best approach in work completion and updates.
- Representing the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values, maintaining a positive attitude, and taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
- Attending local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
- Supporting a diverse and inclusive culture.
- ONC or equivalent qualification.
- Full driving licence.
- Health & Safety awareness.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Office 365 knowledge.
- Completion of all relevant technical training upskilling modules.
