Gas Engineer Assistant

Location:

Edinburgh | Falkirk | Stirling | East Lothian | Mid Lothian | West Lothian

Salary: £28.2k per annum (increase to £31.3k upon successful completion of probationary period)

Start date:

September 2026

We're looking for exceptional Trainee Gas Engineers. Your CV is not the focus; we value your values, skills, and potential.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support engineers on site and learn from them during gas service and mains repair activities.
  • Excavate, dig in public & private highways, and lay and repair gas pipes; work in outdoor environments safely as part of a team.
  • Contribute to essential works to keep gas supply running to millions of people, including standby and overtime for irregular hours.
  • Maintain SGN vans and tools before and after each job, ensuring the team has the necessary equipment.

Required appearance: Clean shaven, pass face‑fit test, wear tight‑fitting dust masks and breathing apparatus.

Holds a valid UK driver’s licence: A full, valid licence is essential.

Must be within commuting distance of the chosen location.
